Overview

Supports the Strategic and Tactical Business Plan through effective supply planning of a variety of materials from international and domestic suppliers ensuring a timely flow of raw and finished goods to support KPI achievement and category performance. Performs analysis and performance management in the areas of inventory, pricing, quality and on time delivery. Executes supply planning activities according to established best practices. Provides a high level of proactive communication on responsibility areas to leadership and suppliers in an effective format for target audience.

Responsibilities

Key Result Areas:

  1. Supply Planning
    • Accurately documents all purchasing and shipping transactions in the automated purchasing and inventory control system.
  • Develops and posseses vendor and product knowledge base to support effective supply planning activities for category.

 

    • Prepares and counsels vendors through supplier forecasts and purchase order analysis to support on time delivery and service level commitments.
  • Executes daily work rule responsibilities to meet established policy.

 

  • Demonstrates accountability for alternate supply, stock balancing, expedites and deferrals to manage gaps in supply or excess inventory position.
  • Reviews Planning Dashboard daily and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Addresses and resolves quality discrepant material/pricing issues within cycle time guidelines.
  • Maintains vendor and product knowledge base to support effective supply planning activities for category.
  • Participates on Dead & Excess Inventory teams; develops and excecutes action plans to resolve.
  • Works with Buying Agent in Asia regularly to manage vendor quality and performance metrics.

 

    • Controls PO placement and tracks delivery to optimize inventory levels and acquisition costs (PPV).
    • Maintains knowledge of company policies, operations, market trends, and US customs regulations.
    • Drives demand and supply planning activities to meet customer and company service metrics.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of company products and quality specifications.
  • Builds a supportive business relationship with Segment Leaders, Product Managers and suppliers.

 

 

  1. Achievement of KPIs
  • Provides analysis of advanced warning and status reporting to drive proactive communication on category performance.
  • Works closely with S&OP Process Coordinator, Network Analyst & Planning Business Analyst to drive continuous improvement and meet KPI goals.

  1. Supplier & New Product Management
  • Manages vendor relationship as directed by Sourcing staff and defined by contract.
  • Effectively works with Hillman Demand & Supply Planning, Segment, Marketing and Sales staff to plan and implement new programs and changes to existing product offering.
  • Collaborates with project teams to outline packaging, cost, quality, and delivery specifications for new products.
  • Analyzes and monitors performance, capacity and load through dashboard reporting.
  • Participates in supplier and project performance meeting reviews. Leads initiatives with support of Supply Planner II and Category Manager.
  • Proactively communicates performance and initiative updates.
  • Works in tactical teams to meet the operational objectives of the company and provides analytical support.
  • Provides a high level of proactive communication in an effective format for target audience.
  • Supports commodity monitoring and reporting.
  • Acts as Operations project lead to drive planning, purchasing, and distribution project requirement or when necessary to support on time and at fill rate new program roll outs.
  • Champions company/team goals, initiatives and KPIs.
  • Collaborates with S&OP Process Coordinator, Network Analyst, & Planning Business Analyst to manage overall category performance.

  1. Systems Support
  • Follows best practice in day to day execution.
  • Provides administrative and analytical support for ERP, APS, or supplier performance issues.
  • Possesses mid to intermediate skill sets with Excel, ERP, APS and BI reporting tools.
  • Manages and updates master data (MOQ, lead time, etc.) to maintain planning system integrity.

Other essential functions:

  • Travel domestically or internationally as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (emphasis on business analysis or supply chain management preferred) MBA or other Master’s degree a plus.

 

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Understanding of international freight, currency exchange rates, and US customs regulations.
  • Knowledge of ERP system processes for production, inventory control and purchasing systems.
  • Knowledge of supplier management and qualification process.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills a must.
  • Understands Lean Supply Chain Concepts.
