The Product Manager, Automotive - Industrial oversees our market price competitiveness and identifies and coordinates the addition of new product categories to the Industrial automotive assortment. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and executing product strategies, objectives, budgets, and promotions for a variety of product lines throughout the product lifecycle from planning to execution.




Key Result Areas:

  1. 1. Product Line Development. Develop, forecast, implement and monitor product lines.
  2. 2. Merchandising Strategy Development. Research, develop and test merchandising strategies.
  3. New Product Launches. Lead cross-functional teams in the development, design, and launch of products
  4. Market Research. Coordinate market and competitive research to identify industry needs.


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for providing the sales team with the necessary technical expertise to enable them to sell our products.
  • Responsible for reviewing product data to ensure that the team is kept up to date on new developments regarding the companies or competitors’ products.
  • Act as point of first reference for all product related enquiries for the Industrial Automotive segment and work collaboratively with the team to address any issues that may arise.
  • Design market research projects to assess customer attitudes to the current product range and new product introductions.
  • Liaise extensively with the purchasing, quality control, inventory control, merchandising and other internal departments to assist the team in managing their day to day business requirements.
  • Coordinate pricing and stock programs by constantly monitoring market price shifts to ensure our competitiveness.
  • Maintain and adjust National & Regional “Matrix” Net Price Files related to core product categories.
  • Maintain and adjust National & Key Account price files.
  • Get directly involved in developing sales programs and negotiate pricing for customers.
  • Work closely with management to develop business plans and attainable margins that will establish the viability of new product offerings.
  • Liaise directly with internal and external stakeholders in order to gain better market intelligence for pricing and the product development process.
  • Assist in the development and administration of regional product events and promotions.
  • Assemble and disseminate information to provide ongoing product knowledge to the team.
  • Work in consultation with the VP, Global Business Leader, Industrial Solutions to develop pricing strategies as well as cataloguing, price lists, promotional vehicles and net pricing sheets.
  • Attend industry trade shows and conducts market research in an effort to find new products.
  • Follow safety rules, and work in a safe and healthy manner
  • Develop and demonstrate a positive “accident prevention” attitude and working climate
  • Be involved and interested in the firm’s health and safety performance.
  • Support and follow the health and safety program.




  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business.



  • Five years’ experience managing an automotive product category, within the automotive aftermarket industry.
  • Product development experience strongly preferred.
  • Technical understanding of automotive products.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Project Management experience required.
  • High level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Windows, and statistical software.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills – able to meet deadlines in a multi-task environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – experience working with cross-functional teams.
