The MDM Data Analyst II is responsible for the assessment, improvement, and appropriate use of data by applying critical analysis and knowledge of our systems in the execution of responsibilities. Working with internal and external customers to collect, capture, modify, categorize, index and prepare all relevant mastered location and customer data domains and Master Data Management (MDM) systems.   Plays a key role in master data governance and data stewardship programs by supporting special projects related to the assurance of enterprise master data quality.  Acts as a liaison to the business to gather requirements from users for project identification. Knowledgeable in the areas of project management, completes simple projects demonstrating a high level of attention to detail, planning, and organization skills.


Key Result Areas (KRAs):


Project Management of New Business Data Initiatives

  • Attends new business strategy meetings to understand the business goals and requirements of the project.
  • Translates business goals, user needs, and process improvements into data management functions and requirements.
  • Communicate the project's business purpose and how it will lead to this goal.
  • Explains the capabilities and limitations of current data systems to the business.
  • Assesses whether data is fit for use by performing initial validation of data delivered as part of the project.
  • Understands and identifies business implications of data system designs and the data requirements of user needs.


Data Steward

  • Monitor the state of data quality within discipline area(s).
  • Establish goals for data quality improvement.
  • Identify the best approaches for resolving data quality issues.
  • Formulate business rules governing use of the data, perhaps including security and data life cycle management.
  • Work with data stewards in other units to develop policies and best practices.
  • Escalate problems where necessary to leaders of the data quality initiative.
  • Assist in the design and management of a Universal Style Guide for overall vendor and location data standardization based on the current data model.
  • Responsible for collection input accuracy and standardization vendor and location data in the master data management system-either manually or via an automated import.
  • Serves as specialist in at least two master data areas while learning others.

Business Analysis & Support

  • Manages day to day support of data add/change requests through Kace ticketing.
  • Analyzes business processes and determines how they can be changed or better supported to improve outcomes.
  • Demonstrates initiative to search out continuous improvement opportunities to improve processes, operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Provides problem resolution and 'business' diagnostics on complex system/data issues.
  • On board & support other MDM Data Analysts.
  • Executes training and development activities for Master Data area.



Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or the equivalent of education and work experience in a related field required.



  • Excellent analytical skills are required
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint and query tools (e.g. WebFOCUS, SQL, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and presentation (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills – able to work effectively with all user levels
  • Demonstrated professional experience with Master Data principles and methodology
  • Working knowledge and experience with ERP disciplines preferred (e.g. Item Master & Branch, Item and Customer Profiles, Bill of Materials, Address Book: Customers, Employees & Vendors, Pricing & Retails, EDI Transaction Management, etc).
  • Understanding business processes, how data is used, and its impact
  • Occasional overnight travel
