    Summary:

     

    To manage all aspects of customs & trade with The Hillman Group, a growing and fast paced company with multiple locations across USA and Canada. To work with cross-functional teams at multiple locations to drive improved processes, compliance and productivity.  

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Responsible for all aspects of Import Compliance, including but not limited to:
      • Manage the relationship with the customs broker and drive performance through periodic KPI reviews.
      • Update and maintain import compliance procedures and documentation.
      • Create training materials for all Hillman business units on import requirements.
      • Document the HTS classifications on all existing products and new product launches, including the GRI and binding rulings associated with each classification.
      • Understand anti-dumping/countervailing exposure of Hillman items. Provide reporting and updates on the status of current cases and future outlook.
      • Proper Valuation applied to all entries.
      • Ensure product Assists are properly documented and included on entries when applicable.
      • Maintain an audit schedule of 7501 entry documentation for accuracy.
      • Monitor containers going into exam and address root causes to reduce impact to organization.
      •  
    • Responsible for all aspects of Export Compliance, including but not limited to:
      • Update and maintaining export compliance procedures and documentation.
      • Create training materials for all Hillman business units on export requirements.
      • Develop a process for denied party screening for all Hillman customers and vendors.
      • Ensure all relevant departments are trained on proper procedures for processing export orders.
      • Track export shipments to ensure timely border crossing and work with brokers when issues arise.
    • Analyze the efficiencies, savings and cost to implement a Free Trade Zone and manage the implementation.
    • Understand the rules of NAFTA to manage the cross border shipments between USA, Mexico and Canada.
    • Implement procedures to process Duty Drawback when applicable, with the ability to track savings generated.
    • Manage the implementation of CTPAT with Hillman and vendors.
    • Drive continuous improvement within the import/export process to reduce cost and entry time.
    • Monitor and report on developments related to customs and trade compliance.

    Qualifications

     

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 5+ Years of relevant experience in customs & trade administration or management.
    • Licensed Customs Broker (preferred but not required)
