  • Overview

    Provides leadership and direction for designated operations. Ensures that products are produced according to manufacturing/engineering specifications and forecasted demands.


    Key Result Areas:


    1.   Operations – Supervises and Directs Designated Operations

    • Manages the scheduling of production, sets work schedules, provides training and coaching, conducts performance evaluations, and sets departmental goals and expectations.
    • Briefs Line Leads on production requirements based on order volume and inventory to ensure the production of quality systems by established due dates.
    • Ensures that products are produced according to manufacturing/engineering specifications and forecasted demands.
    • Monitors department workflow and adjusts resources as needed to accomplish objectives.
    • Communicates regularly with other departments / staff to provide information, answer questions, and assist with production and outgoing/incoming order issues.

     2. Production Improvements -Improve production efficiencies/processes and data quality and reduce product quality defects

    • Manages data within E1 system to maintain and produce accurate documentation of machine and part inventories, production reports, returned or repaired parts, and asset tracking.
    • Prepares action plans effectively to maximize overall efficiency of production equipment.
    • Maintains a thorough knowledge of processes and equipment in assigned areas.
    • In conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering, conducts time studies for manufacturing processes and establishes operating standard.
    • Initiates, implements and documents problem solving and process improvement activities.
    • Participates in Design/Redesign of assembly lines to support production processes and enhance productivity.
    • Initiates, conducts, leads and implements appropriate process audits; and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions, resulting in minimizing or eliminating process deviations and root causes of non-conforming product.

     3 .Staff Development - Leads assigned employees to attain specific performance and development objectives


    • Counsels and disciplines employee as needed; provides appropriate training and development.
    • Participates in interviews of applicants and selects new employees.
    • Monitors attendance, rewards employees based on a accepted practices/programs when applicable

    4. Safety – Evaluate departmental jobs and activities to evaluate and eliminate risks. Train and coach employees in safe operations and behavior, administer corporate safety policies and procedures.


    • Participates in the development and implementation of safety polices/procedures as required by law and Company policy.
    • Conducts departmental safety meetings, provides continued support of general and position-specific safety training to employees.
    • Conducts periodic safety observations and audits and coach employees based on the audit results.
    • Conducts annual PPE audit and evaluation for the department.
    • Conducts incident investigations to identify and correct root causes in a timely manner.
    • Knows and follows the corporate safety policies and procedures.
    • Provides and maintains a clean and safe work environment.

    5.   Expense Control / Cost Reduction – Reduces material and non-value-added activities.


    • Ensures the economical utilization of resources and elimination of non-value added activities.
    • Manages resources within approved budget and continually seeks cost-saving opportunities.
    • Seeks cost reduction measures and works closely with purchasing to reduce material cost and with Manufacturing Engineering to reduce labor and overhead costs.



    High school diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree preferred. Three years manufacturing and supervisory experience preferred



    1. Advanced computer skills. Knowledge of Word, Excel, Windows, and Enterprise 1 preferred. Able to learn and use in-house software applications.
    2. Strong organization and planning skills.
    3. Strong analytical skills
    4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    5. Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
    6. Able to lead and motivate employees by guiding, training, and offering counsel.
