  • Overview

    The Accounting Manager is responsible for accounting for the Company's inventory and other costs of sales. He/she will manage the inventory control group and will be responsible working across functions with operations and local finance teams to ensure that inventory quantities and costs are accurately stated in accordance with Hillman's accounting policy and GAAP.   He/she will also be responsible for inventory valuation reserves and partnering with the business to minimize losses due to inventory obsolescence and excess.

    Responsibilities

    Key Result Areas (KRAs)

    • Inventory accounting
    • Inventory quantities and cost are accurately reflected in the financial statements
    • Inventory balances are reconciled to the general ledger and reconciling items are appropriate and supported by documentation
    • Inventory valuation
    • Manage and carry out the Company’s inventory valuation policy with regard to reserves to state inventory at net realizable value
    • Perform cost variance analysis and absorption calculations
    • Manage the team
    • Take ownership for the work product of the members of the inventory accounting team
    • Develop, mentor, and train staff
    • Value added business partner
    • Partner with internal business customers throughout the organization providing financial information and consultation on various projects and initiatives involving inventory
    • Frequent communication and interaction with Finance, Treasury, Tax, and Operations for timely identification of events and transactions impacting the financial statements

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, Master’s degree preferred

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of five years of experience
    • Big-4 public accounting and/or public company experience preferred
    • CPA preferred
    • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
